Netserver LC 2000r

im new to this server.when i boot up the server the red lights on the scsi drives show a red light .a blank screen is shown,therefore i cannot see whats the problem is or find out the code for the problem.any help welcomed ! !

Hi Duane,

If the server is in a consol switch try to connect it to a regular moniter off the consol switch

Make sure the server is connected to a known good power source (disconnect it from a UPS if it is on a UPS)

Disconnect the server from any power source for 5 min and try to boot

If that does not help, try to Clear the CMOS as follows
1. Turn off power to the NetServer and remove the cover.
2. Move switch 5 in the configuration switch on the system board to the ON position.
3. Turn on power to the NetServer.
A message displays indicating the configuration has been cleared.
4. Turn off power to the NetServer.
5. Return switch 5 on the system board to the OFF position.
6. Replace the cover.
7. Turn on power to the NetServer
8. Press [F2] to run the Setup Utility when appears.
9. Make any configuration changes required.
10. Press F10 to Save changes in the configuration(even if you didn't make any changes you have to do it anyways) and exit the Setup Utility.

If thsi is not any help,

try to strip down to the base configuration as follows :
one processor
one memory stick
remove any add on card, if there are any
and see if you get a video

If all the above not working

Try to boot the server with out a memory and check if you can get any beep codes, If there is no beep code you might have to replace the mainboard and/or the processor

Check all those and let come back with the result

just a few things to say.ive tried everything and still nothing.i even pulledd and disconnected the memory,cpu and nothing has happened.i want to know,why does the lights go red then green for a short period ?

Hi Duane,

If you did not hear any beep codes when you boot the server with out a memory(But a processor should be in), you are probabily looking for a motherboard replacement.

The drives are green means you don't have any HDD or Array problem

I assume you mean there is no video, is that correct?

1. When the server boots, do you hear any beeps?

2. Is the monitor, keyboard and mouse connected directly?

3. If no video, try clearing CMOS:

To clear the CMOS configuration.
a. Turn the server off and unplug it. Take the case off.
b. Locate the set of system switches on the motherboard.
c. Move Switch #5 (Clear Config, not labelled) to the opposite position.
d. Power up the server. You will see a configuration error. The server will stop at this error.
e. Turn the server off, unplug it. Move Switch #5 back to the original position.
f. Power up the server. The BIOS program must be run to reconfigure the server.

If this does not work, strip the server down to basics. This means removing all hard drives, disconnecting CD-ROM & floppy, only one DIMM installed. Remove any PCI cards installed Then clear CMOS again. If still no video, describe what you have installed in this server.
