Top Tools agents description

Hi I must install Top Tools Agents. Which one of these are:

HP Server Agents, version 5.5 (26MB Size) or HP Instant Top Tools, version 5.55 (3.8MB Size). Thanks..

I would recommend Instant Top Tools (ITT). For Windows, it only requires MS Virtual Machine and IE 5 or greater. HP Top Tools (TT) for Servers with Top Tools Agents requires SMTP in addition to a lot more server "overhead" than ITT uses (TT always keeps additional services running in the background which takes up valuable CPU & RAM resources).

If you need constant monitoring with e-mail or pager alerts and you're willing to take a hit on performance: use Top tools with the agents.

If you just want a tool that will enable you to get a large range of information without losing server performance: use Instant Top tools.

ITT is very cool: you can check driver & BIOS versions, as well as the firmware versions of hard drives, controllers & drive cage backplanes; you can also check the system event log. All without rebooting the server.

Very cool.

Of course regular Top Tools allows you to do the same sort of stuff but Instant TT uses a lot fewer resources.
