https://community.hpe.com/t5/netservers/installing-18-2-gig-drives/m-p/3231827#M6573 I recently acquired two drives, bith 18.2 gig but different manufacturers.<BR /><BR />One is: Compaq Model #BB01811C9C<BR />Second one: IBM Model #DNES-318350<BR /><BR />Is there some special setting that I need to use on these in order to use them in the cage on a Netserver? The cage is currently populated with 2-9.1 gig drives and 4-4 gig drives. I am using a Netserver 5/100 cage and case, but the motherboard has been replaced with a standard motherboard and there are not modifications elsewhere. other than the 2904 Adaptec SCSI card.<BR /><BR />The drives spin up and after a short time they spin back down and the lights go off completely in that cage.<BR /><BR />Do I have bad drives or is the cage looking for something in particular. None of the HP drives have any jumpers on them, so I do not know what is needed.<BR /><BR />Thanks in advance. The drives have to be forced to being single ended. Once I set the jumpers, they spun up and stayed spinning. I was then able to format them.
