The Windows 2000 installation process automatically sets â write combineâ on which causes the HP NetServer LH 6000 and LT 6000r to hang under various conditions.

You will need to download the windows 2000 drivers from the following website:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?locale=en_US〈=English&pnameOID=19837&prodSeriesId=50459&prodTypeId=15351&basePartNum=ns1072&locBasepartNum=ns1072en&os=Microsoft+Windows+2000+Server&tech=Driver

Reboot the server in VGA mode and access the drivers diskette and then Double click w2kvp.reg from one of the folders.

After the update, reboot and enter W2K normally, you should be able to run the server without anymore problems.

The entire instructions of this proccess is documented on the Windows 2000 installation guide:

http://h200001.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00207468/c00207468.

we have got an LT 6000r that we were given without any software, documentation or something by another firm that left one of our server-racks.
we tried to install windows 2000 server, but it crashed everytime after starting it. then we tried 2003 - it ran stable, but without network-connection. so we rebooted the server and went via F3 into setups network-section during startup (is normally shown after netRAID-section). Then we changed from an old, wrong static ip to dhcp enabled without any ip and rebooted. from this point we did never see again the network-section at startup. means we are not able to do any network settings anymore? we only get an error-message after several minutes telling us: "error 3 in do_command" and "System Configuration Data Updated". The servers error-log fills very fast with a message that a remote-control-card or so is started.
is there anyone who can help us determine or better solve the problem? like told we do not have any software, cds, documentation or else.
thanks in advance
dr

thanks brian. interesting. but we already decided to use 2003 because it is running. i would change back to 2000, but only after getting very good arguments ;) - we already set up an sql-server... ;)

we do not know why, but the two network-cards are recognized now. but we have some errors and warnings:
1. servers error-log fills rapidly with message "RCC Status" -> "Remote Control Card Started"
2. we are getting two errors on ACPI in windows error log
3. there are 3 unrecognized pci-devices in device-manager
4. we still do not get the possibility to change settings of the remote-control-card at startup. only errormessage "error 3 in do_command" is shown after several minutes of waiting
do you have any suggestions? that would be great. thanks in advance
