Voltage sensor crossed the upper critical threshold.

Hi all,

I have a server with voltage error's a LP1000r netserver.

In a previous post a suggestion was made to call in for HP support when the FAN led was burning red. So they could replace the chassis of the server.

But the FAN led on the front panel is green, so accoridng to the previous post there should be no problem here? Or not?

I already have the latest Firmware for that specific server.

Any clues? Any help?

I'm not certain that I understand your situation. Do you have a red or green fan LED currently? Has anything been replaced? Are the Voltage sensor errors new after your fan errors?

The LP1000 is a fairly simple system with only the CPU, DIMMS and hard drive (and single PCI card) as the replaceable components. Try to flash the LP1000 bios and reseat the CPU's and DIMMs
If you are still getting Voltage errors, it still goes back to the chassis or less likely the CPU. If you are running dual CPU's try taking it down to a single CPU and verify CPU's one by one.

And if the chassis is the problem, should the back-plane be replaced?

The backplane is replaced when the chassis is replaced. I would still flash bios and reseat components in the LP1000 before replacing the chassis...

hi remco,

Have you upgraded the processor in the netserver?
sounds like it could either be the processor or system board failing if you havent, or the PSU is faulty.
Is the PSU led green?
Also if its a dual proc server then remove the second one and bring it down to base memory try it and then swap around if necessary.
Then create the diagtools diskette from the web/navigator and run all the tests and the advanced tests on the system.
Also when it boots is there any post error on the screen?
