Hie all

Thank you all for your responses.

Bryan,i am using an integrated HP Netraid controller. I downloaded the drivers from the link you gave me and tried it. During setup i specified additional drivers and pointed to the disk with the drivers. There are four additional drivers and i chose the first one, that of Netserver LH3 embedded SCSI. After specifying that, the setup program realised and loads the drivers.

However when i go to the next step of the installation i still get the same message that no hard disks were detected.

You assistance is highly appreciated.

Regards Q
Hie guys,

I have an old HP Netserver LH3 with two new hard drives. Does anyone know how to install Windows NT operating system without the HP Navigator CDs? I cleared existing raid configurations and did new raid configurations. When i try to install NT, i get a message that reads "...setup could not continue because there were no hard drives detected or ...use manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program"

What kind of raid controller is it? You probably need to hit F6 during NT's initial setup and/or point the installation to a driver disk with the raid controller driver. With the navigator CD HP automatically feeds the required drivers during installation. If you don't have the drivers, let me know. I've got a couple of navigator CDs for my LH4 where LH3 drivers are included such that I could potentially upload the raid controller driver or other files for you.

Bryan

THat is correct. You do not have the driver support loaded during the install to support the RAID controller, therefore the OS setup does not see any disk space because no logical drive exists for it.

Hi Q,

You already got the driver link from Bryan so no need to mention that again. However, you have mentioned that you reconfigured your array, if that is he case make sure you initialized the newly configured logical drive. If you have trouble doing so let me know

Regards
Amha kassa

Hi,

sorry, my mistake.

Have you already downloaded "hp netserver lh 3 Drivers for NT 4.0"? I assume that you have, because you mentioned that you selected "embedded SCSI driver".

So, if you have that diskette, please try the second entry ""Hewlett-Packard NetServer NetRAID RAID Controller" or something else which looks like this one.

It should work, at least it worked for me last time. If you still have a problem, I will try to do the same tomorrow morning on my LH3 test server.

Best regards,
Mario.

Hi Q,

It is not Netraid I or II that you need.

The driver that you need is "integrated raid controller raid driver" here is the link where to download it

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?locale=en_US&pnameOID=15389&taskId=135&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=50440〈=en&cc=us&swEnvOID=24

After You load the driver make sure you pressed S again to select the CD ROM (ATAPI CDROM) Otherwise you might end up with no CD ROM found.
