enable 2 cpu on e55 gold

have a question for you..
i have a old server e55 gold netserver
the motherboard is dual processing
but i have only one cpu..
recently i have found a second cpu
but the problem is that the notherboard dont start with 2 cpu installed
i know that we have to upgrade the bios or firmaware..
but the question is "must i have a software to do it?"
Smartstart is correct?
i have two version 5.50 and 6.20 but say that not compatible with this
server type...
so pls learn me what version of software i have to use to do it...
and give me a location to download it ...

hi,

to update the bios you dont need any particular software.
you do not use the smartstart cd's these are proliant servers
you really need a netserver naviagtor cd for your cd. This has drivers/updates on.

you can download drivers from here

doesnt look like there is a bios update though so you may have to try and find a navigator cd.

Hi Leonardo,
A few other things you can confirm is:
1. Does the server start with just the new CPU installed?
2. Are both CPU's the same? You want to check both the Operating Frequency (MHz) and the voltage ratings.

i say also that the pc dont strat with two cpu installed but start with one cpu (i have try with the first and with the second cpu)

the cpu have the same clock, are the same..

i watch my motherboard
no voltage regulation needed...

it work noe with one cpu and terminator cpu on the other slot !!!

i need navigator cd suppose
pls help me where i can downlad it

give me address where i can find a iso image.

fyi, i have the same problem now...

i hope i will get e55 navigator cd soon from our hardware vendor

my both cpu's work separetly but not together, both have same frequency and voltage, but each cpu seem to have different microcode. btw one is made in Costarica, the other made in Phillipines. this could be a problem too.
check the microcode of your cpu's

if i manage to get the navigator cd and get it working, i'll be able to post and image.
