      <title>NetServer LH 3000 Event Issues</title>

      <description>An HP NetServer that I am have been working with all of the sudden started having a red flashing light on the front of the unit. I quickly looked through the Event Log on the front panel of the server and it listed Voltage (over and under) and Temperature Events, but the server itself seems to be functioning correctly. Any thoughts on what might have caused this or how to solve the issue? Is it safe to use? Thanks in advance.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Tom</description>

      <description>I would make sure the server's firmware &amp;amp; BIOS are all up to date.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If the voltage &amp;amp; temperature readings don't go away after that, there may be a problem with the system&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Temperature problems may indicate a problem with air flow or a bad fan.  Are you getting any fan errors in addition to the temp ones?  Check to make sure that the air vents in the system aren't clogged with dust or otherwise blocked.  Make sure you actually feel air coming out where the fans are (check optional fan next to CPU, system fan on same side as PCI cards).&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The voltage errors may indicate problems with the Voltage Regulator Modules (VRMs).&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;But, you can't be sure the warnings are genuine until you've updated the firmware &amp;amp; BIOS.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Please, let us know if that helps.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Alicia</description>

      <description>If the problem is not a fan not spinning up, I would replace the power supply. Is one of them more hot than the other? They are a common mode of failure.</description>

If there is a failed fan, it will tell you which one which is important because there are several in the LH3000.  &lt;BR /&gt;If you are getting a voltage error, it is imperative that you update your BIOS because it includes an update to the Netserver Management Controller which has all the tolerance levels for the sensors.&lt;BR /&gt;The latest BIOS revs. for the LH3000 are 4.06.33 PT for the U2 version and 4.06.04 RN for the U3 and they can be downloaded from this page:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;A href="http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?locale=en_US&amp;amp;pnameOID=19611&amp;amp;taskId=135&amp;amp;prodTypeId=15351&amp;amp;prodSeriesId=50440" target="_blank"&gt;http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?locale=en_US&amp;amp;pnameOID=19611&amp;amp;taskId=135&amp;amp;prodTypeId=15351&amp;amp;prodSeriesId=50440&lt;/A&gt;〈=en&amp;amp;cc=us&amp;amp;swEnvOID=54&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If your BIOS has been updated and you are still getting the message, you can try reversing the VRM's (Provided you have 2 installed) and see if the error follows the VRM.  You can check the values of the VRM's using Instant TopTools and looking at the Voltage section on the Status Page.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you're stuck, call Netserver Support at 1-800-474-6836 and say "Netserver" at the prompt.       <description>Thank you for your help! I upgraded the bios and MMC firmware, but I still am having issues with the VRM and Temperature. Listed below are the details from the power and temp sections of TopTools. Any more ideas before I start replacing parts?       <description>Hey Tom,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It is possible that those events are now corrected.  Have you tried clearing the hardware event log?  From the Status page, click on "System Event Log" on the left-hand side and click on the "Clear Event Log" button in the top right corner.
