I tried to help.
Went as far as to go to LSI Logic's site and look for ANY meaning for this error message.
(This is a pet peave of mine. Why can't these guys that write code insert error messages that mean something to someone OTHER then themselves)
But what stands out to me is the word "convert". To me this would mean there is something there already. If this is a new configuration, clear the NVRAM configuration before beginning. If the drives have been used, make sure there are installed when you clear the system config so they are cleared also.

Using Novell Netware 5.1 sp4 and a Netserver LH3 PIII 500 Mhz with an integrated NetRaid-controller, an error message is generated by Netraid Config program megamgr.nlm when trying to create a new logical drive.

The error message is

"Danger!!! Failed to convert 40-ld struc to 8-ld struc"

I can't find any documentation which describes the cause of this error

Can anyone suggest any likely causes?

The integrated NetRAID controller actually has an AMI (not LSI) controller. If SCSI A or SCSI B is disabled for NetRAID, it then becomes a LSI Logic SCSI controller.
Unfortunately this error message was not found in any HP documentation...
