Did you add a second VRM with the CPU?
And you are sure they are the same core speed.

OK, there is no VRM for the E800 I guess. My mistake.
HP Netserver E 800 User Guide
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpn11320/lpn11320.pdf
Only thing I see here are:
"Failure to connect the cooling fan to its power connector will cause the NetServer to shut down with no messages displayed"
"Upgrade the Firmware"
"ensure the processor type, clock speed, and cache size are the same."

Hi Dan,

One thing you can try, if you're running Windows, is to boot to a single processor and check the System Summary for the Processor. Check the Model & Stepping of both CPU's. There can be no more than one step separating the 2 CPU's.

Also, try booting with just the secondary CPU installed to rule out the socket.

Let us know how it goes,

Sean T.
we can rule out the socket.
i thought about the second fan and ruled that out .
it will not boot with both fans and cpu
PIII SL52Q 933/256/133/1.75v
the only diffrence is one is
Intel @@'81 malay and one is
Intel @@'01 costa rica
unless there is some switch or setting they must not be the same . no windows .

I just bought 4 SL52Q 933Mhz processors hoping to set two of them up on a used HP board from an e800 that should be coming soon. From what I've read, the e800 board does not support the 933Mhz processor. What firmware revision did you install?
