G'day all,
Firstly please presume I know "nothing".
I was recently given a HP NetServer LH Plus.
It came with one 133Mhz CPU & no memory :-(
When booted I get this beep sequence: 1,3,4,1.
Which my research tells me is a memory problem.
The case states "uses 3.3v Unbuffered DIMMS" but when i install standard SDRam I get the same beep sequence. Does it require proprietry RAM?

the memory supported in lh plus series is :
16 Mb 60 ns EDO DIMM D4294A
32 Mb 60 ns EDO DIMM D4295A
64 Mb 60 ns EDO DIMM D4296A
128 Mb 60 ns EDO DIMM D4297A
256 Mb 60 ns EDO DIMM D4926A (LH Pro only)
You can use other producer memory if they have these caracteristics.
So only EDO dimms can be used

Hi,

I have a Netserver LH Plus 5/166. I have one stick of third party memory which is 256MB. It works just fine but it still gives the LED flashes indicating that it is not HP memory.

a standard SDRam DIMM will not work. you need EDO memory from what my Service Manual says:
60nS, 72-bit EDO (Extended Data Output) DIMM memory module. so the memory is Parity (72bit) or ECC NOT non-parity as standard memory is now-a-days
16 MB - DIMM D4294-63001 D4294-69001
32 MB - DIMM D4295-63001 D4295-69001
64 MB - DIMM D4296-63001 D4296-69001
128 MB -DIMM D4297-63001 D4297-69001

As stated above, you can use non-HP but your LED's will blink.
