topic NetRAID-4M detached disks problem in Netservers

I've a NetServer LT 6000r and a NetServer Rack Storage /12. Also i've a NetRAID-4M and i use FAST to configure the NetRAID. I create a two disks mirror and i can see the mirror from my Windows 2003 S.O. disks administrator , all seems well but...when i reboot the NetServer the Rack disks are in "detached" state(therefore the mirrored disks disappears). Why? A lot of thanks in advance.

Hi Emilio,

When you restart the server, are the disks still seen in FAST? Have you initialized the disks? Are you powering down the R/S 12 when you restart the server?

First, use the "Controller" view of FAST to check the hard drives. Do they have an X through them? If so, they have not been initialized. Right-click on the drives and choose "Initialize".

Next, power down the server and the R/S 12. Bring the R/S 12 back up and wait until all the drives have finished spinning up. Then power up the server.

When you get back into the Operating System, use Disk Administrator to Partition/Format the unallocated space.

Hope this helps,

Sean T. Craig Sr. C.E.T., M.C.P.
