or if you're more comfortable with using the navigator cd you can use the new dl link I posted above to get the ISO, then all you have to do is extract it using your favorite zip program (e.g. WinZip) and then burn the ISO to cd using something like Nero or burnatonce (I personally recommend burnatonce because it's free, opensource, has never failed to burn ISOs to CD for me and make ISOs from CD for me, and it is really straightforward...it also uses linux utilities ported to Windows in order to accomplish its tasks)

Hi Phil,

Torsten is right in that the SmartStart CD is for Proliant Servers and the Netserver Navigator CD is for the Netservers. However, it is not required, nor available from HP as the drivers are all antiquated and it is recommended that you use the latest files from the HP Website at this link:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?pnameOID=19399&locale=en_US&taskId=135&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=50440&submit.y=10&submit.x=10&cc=us

Now, if you REALLY want the Navigator CD, John Musbach was kind enough to post a link to an .iso image at this link:
http://rapidshare.de/files/16514234/HPNAVIGATOR.iso.zip.html

Alternatively, you can call the Netserver Support desk at 1-800-474-6836 and say "Netserver" at the prompt. They will be happy to help you find the downloads you need and the LC2000 is one of the servers that still has free phone support so you might as well take advantage of it while you still can.

Hope this information is helpful,

Sean T. Craig Sr. C.E.T., M.C.P.

P.S. Please say thanks with points.
In the past the only way I've been able to install the OS (server 2k) is w/the navigator cd's. When I try booting from the 2k cd and using a scsi driver from the floppy it doesn't work. It can't find the controller (1si)

When you start the 2k install, press <F6> to specify 3rd party mass storage drivers. Then when it prompts you, press "S" to specify, insert the floppy and press <ENTER>. It should show you the NetRAID-1si in the list. Select it and carry on from there.

Good luck,

Sean T.
I have an LC2000 server and thought the NetServer Navigator ISO might be newer than what I got with mine. Nope, the ISO is vintage 1996, and I have both 1998 (S.02.05) and 2000 (L.18.04) vintage CDs that came with my ebay purchase (VERY pleasant surprise!).

When I load the newest CD, it notes that the BIOS installed in the server is newer than that on CD, so I assume there are newer versions than what I have.

Any ideas on where to get the latest (last?) NetServer Navigator? If the version(s) that I have would be helpful to others, I could probably host them for a while as zipped ISOs, but they are MUCH larger than the one on-line.

Thanks, Don
