You cannot transform a raid 0 i a raid5, you should inizialize again the logical drive after the change, and reinstall the OS.

There is an utility (netraid assistant) that allow you to do some steps form the OS, but not this migration.

Here is a link to some docs that explain the netraid
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SupportTaskIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=329290&prodSeriesId=51915&taskId=115
marino

Hi All,

How do you load win2003 server. I get a message "hard drive not reconized". I have conducted a format of the hard drives through "Ctrl M.

Windows starts loading, I press F-6, and load the drivers, however the "hard drive not reconized" message pops up. Even if I do not press F-6, the message still comes up.

Do I need any software? All the forums state software is not needed.

Help!

Big time points awarded...

Nytro
format of the drives with CTRL.M is not enough, you should create a logical drive and inizialize it, then you can start creating partitions

Marino is correct. If you are using Ctrl M, then the drive(s) are attached to the RAID controller. When connected to the RAID controller, you must configure a RAID device, a single drive (RAID 0), a mirror of 2 drives (RAID 1) or a group of drives (RAID 5). Once the controller has defined a logical drive and initialized it (formatted) it can be used to install an OS provided drivers for the RAID controller are loaded at install.

Marino,

Sorry for spelling your name wrong at the last post... thanks also e4services. I will try your outstanding! recomendations. Give me a couple of days and I will let you know the outcome.

More points on the way...

Sincerely;

Steven

Marino and e4services,

Followed your instructions and everything loaded just as you said. I originally formatted the hard drives, however did not initilize/optimize them. Going into the Ctrl-M menu is straight forward and user freindly and allowed me to see the option to initilize the drives.

The only item I had problems with is RAID level 5... I could only utilize level 0. The computer has 3 hard drives which are identical. I could get to the spot that said RAID 0, however no keys would respond on the keyboard.

Can I go to RAID level 5 through Windows 2003?

Thank you both for your outstanding support!

If you know how to configure RAID level 5 please let me know.

Sincerely;

Steven
