hi,

centos is very well but if you like to use the advantageds of debian, i would try to use ubuntu server on the machine.

if its working on ubuntu, check wich drivers/modules, they are using and try to make your own debian installation medium.

mikap

Hi,
I am working on this DL380 G3 (xeon x2 ) server.
I would like to install Debain5 OS.This server is purely formated with BIOS only. I put the Debian CD(ISO) in, on the power up it is not recognizing the CD type(iso file).
I tried to look for software pachtes for debian (http://www.hp.com/go/debian), but nothing much is available.
I think debian is fully supported by DL380 G3.

Have you face this problem before?

It is strange it does not recognize iso image...
Do other images works, eg. centos, ubuntu at all ?
Can you boot from debian CD when placed to some other server ?
I would try to burn new debian iso image ( please use 4x speed --lowest one ) and ensure image is correctly written.
At least it should boot, and start installation

Hope this helps

hi,

you nned to create a bootable CD directly from,

iso image, or if you have ilo configured, you will be able to mount the iso to the virtual cd/DVD drive.

mikap

Hello Experts,
Fianlly I changed the CDROM and now Server can read the debian CD.
In DL380G3, I have only one hard drive and hence Raid0 is default in Logic drive(array controller).
Following webiste states that "DL380 G3-->
SCSI-Raid-1,Raid-5-->
Working 100% perfectly; Raid setup using Raid Bios option while booting
"
Ref: http://wiki.debian.org/HP/ProLiant

1.Does it mean that I need one more hard drive to install the debian.
2.Does it need more then one harddrive to install Debian on Proliant server ?
