When the server is powered on it goes right from the CPU initialization to the Array init and never offers the F8 iLO config option.

Thanks for getting back to me Johan!

To your questions -

I can't tell if it's working because I can't get in to iLO setup to set the address and DHCP settings etc because it does not offer the F8 option during POST...

I can see the iLO in the BIOS.

Firmware is at the latest - 9.20b

I cleared the NVRAM using the F9 option and then Advanced Settings -> clear non-volitile memory.

Still no F8 option during POST...

Additional info -

I have an ethernet cable connected from the iLO port to a switch. The activity lights on the iLO port are green/blinking green.
I test this cable by connectiing it to another server's iLO and that one works.

Also, I found another thread in here about the same issue. Sadly, that one seemed to end without resolution. :(

Title:
Ilo on DL380 G4 not showing up on POST boot

1.Go to BIOS--PCI DEIVCE,Check ILO2 if it exist

2.If exist,Clear NVRAM and POST again.

3.If it doesn't work either, use the backu bios or replace system board

Hi,

I have the same problem - a DL380 G4 which does not display the <F8> ILO Prompt when booting.

The BIOS shows that the ILO devices are present in the PCI List and the lights appear to flash normally on the ILO NIC. I have tried reflashing the system BIOS to the latest version that I found on the HP Web site (07/19/2007) but the Management Utility or the ILO Firmware Update utilities cannot "see" the ILO hardware.

I have tried resetting the ILO by powering off and removing the power plug and also tried resetting SW6 on the configuration dip switch. The rest of the system appears to work fine, is there anything else that I can try before I have to consider reaplcing the main system board?

regards
Dave</F8>

Hate to necro an old thread but I just got done dealing with this on a few servers in our environment (including a DL380 G3).

To fix, first get 2 floppies. You'll need to use the ROMpak to flash the controller.
Aka the one that reads as:
**CRITICAL ** Options ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade Diskette for HP Integrated Lights-Out Management Controller

Download the ROMPaq.
Run it and let it format the 2 floppies.
Power off the server.
Set the dip switch (1) to disable the security.
Insert floppy 1.
Follow prompts until it is done.
Restart and you should see the F8 boot option for iLO.

Don't forget to flip the dip switch back.
