Proliant novice :

I've got to upgrade the firmware on iLOs, RiLOEs & RiLOE IIs in live host systems.

I have read that the older RiLOEs require you to boot the host system from floppy to upgrade the firmware.

However is it possible to upgrade the newer iLOs and RiLOEIIs without having to reboot the host operating system?

Is there any documentation available about this?

Thank You,
Graham.

Graham,

If you upgrade via the iLO web interface, the host server does not require a restart. The iLO will restart itself for the changes to take effect.

Regards

Jon

Jon is correct. ILOs and RILOs will require they be reset, but the server will not need to be rebooted or reset at all. This is assuming you're using the web interface to flash the firmware upgrade though.

Thank you everyone you've been most helpful!
iLO firmware upgrade over the web does not require a reboot of the host system.
