Hello,

I bought a used first gen (white) DL580 server to learn exchange server for school. I bought the computer, but am having a hard time getting it going. There is no OS. What is the first step to getting it up and running? The system can see the SCSI controller and I have created a raid 5 array, but it still says it cant see the drives and I have an "invalid system disk"... Ive tried using an MS Dos boot floppy with no lucks. I also cannot boot to the Server 2003 setup from CD Rom.
I got to the part of using the Firmware disc and updated the firmware... But After I make my Raid 5 array... I put the Windows 2003 CD in and thought it would boot from the CD. When there is a Raid 5 array present, it wont boot into Windows setup, but if I delete the array, it will boot into wondows, but there is no volume to install the OS.

Anyone know what I need to do?

I know its entry level questions, but id love a little help.

hi
try using hp smartstart which can be downloaded here

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/22678.html

this will take you through server setup and OS setup. If this fails try a different version of smartstart (i use the one below for my ml370 g2)

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/25190.html

funny cause i was in exact same boat as u about 4 months ago!
