I have verified that my problem was indeed the same one described in the thread above. I have reinstalled 2 of the problem machines using the correct "monolithic" driver and they are working as expected. Thanks to those who responded.

NIC constantly resets to DHCP assigned address

I have several Proliant DL380 G5 servers with 2 integrated network cards (HP NC373i). I want to assign each network card an address on seperate subnets as follows:

NIC #1 10.1.0.99/24 with gateway/DNS
NIC #2 10.1.8.99/24 no gateway/DNS

I can assign an address to NIC 1 and it functions properly. I then assign an address to NIC 2 and it takes the configuration, but when I view the properties on NIC 1, it still has the 10.1.0.99 address, but it now says assigned by DHCP. When the server reboots, it no longer has a static address. If I then assign an address to NIC 1, then NIC 2 will develop this exact symptom. I am running Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2. I have installed Proliant SP 7.80 and I have tried updated drivers for the network cards from HP and Broadcom. I have tried this with and without the HP network config utility installed. Anyone experience this? I have replicated this problem on at least 3 of my servers.

The 3 servers are in different locations, they are connected to a mix of HP Procurve and Cisco Catalyst switches. I updated all of the firmware on 2 servers (the 3rd is in production and I can't update it right now). I still have the same problem.

I re-read my first post and it may be a confusing, so I'll try to clear it up a little. I want to assign a static IP address to each of 2 integrated network cards. When I assign a static address to one card, the other one switches to a DHCP addresss.

Have you tried booting into safe mode with netorking and setting them up that way?

I think I may have discovered the problem. The post below describes a very similar problem.

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?threadId=1130404&admit=-682735245+1184877365779+28353475

All 3 of the servers that I am having problems with were installed via RIS. I tried to 2 servers that I installed via CD and they do not have this problem. I'm going to update my RIS installation source so this doesn't happen in the future. Unfortunately, the only solution I can come up with to fix the existing installs is to reinstall the OS.

I did try the suggestion of safe mode, I have even uninstalled the network cards and Virtual Bus drivers and still no solution. Thanks for the input.
