Hi,

Does anyone know how to boot up from USB tape drive on DL 385 G2 servers. Can the USB tape drive be used for backup and recovery?

Miguel, you are in the wrong area. Here is hp-ux land.

But anyway, if the tape supports OBDR (no idea if it does), you should be able to boot from. But this also depends on the backup application and the OS.

I've got a lot of time on DL class servers. Bootable tapes are not something they do.

Boot off a USB key with the right drivers and software to lay down tape contents to disk, yes.

Thank you for your replies, I guess doing a full system recovery from tape in not a simple task.

Never tried with a tape, but IMHO possible.

Be aware, you are still in hp-ux land ...

Prepare an offline win$ cd (bart pe) and boot from. Backup your system (to a tape or a usb drive). Restore it the same way.

Very easy - just like igite (more or less ...).
