Support Pack for Windows 2008 R2

Hello,

Sounds like Windows 7 will be available for download around August 3 for those of us with a MS Volume License agreement. I am assuming that Windows 2008 R2 will be available around that time as well.

Does anyone know if HP will be releasing a specific Support Pack for Windows 2008 R2, or can we use the existing 8.25 that is currently available today for Windows 2008.

Just read on the Windows Server team blog that August 19th is the date for availability to MVL customers.

I have the same issue. Via volume licensing we have both Win 7 & Server 2008 R2 RTM in hand, previously had problems with the release candidate of R2 working with SmartStart 8.25.

What is HP's timing for supporting Server 2008 R2?

I too have R2 in hand and wanting to deploy many new servers but am waiting for SmartStart and support pack for R2.

My org also has Windows Server 2008 R2 in our possession for over one week now. It is my understanding that OEM's (aka HP) received R2 even earlier, like mid-to-late July.

I have been eyeballing HP's responsiveness to things such as this, because my org is considering moving away from IBM servers to HP servers.

I believe smartstart 8.60 Includes Support for R2.

Unless I'm missing something, there is no SmartStart 8.60 yet. I am somewhat new to HP, so I could very well be mistaken.

That is correct - the latest version is 8.25 and I just downloaded 8.30 from the FTP site (as it was not yet published on the downloads website as of yesterday - perhaps it is there today).

You will need to backtrack a bit on that path and hunt around for 32bit or Windows 2003 versions.

Wow, this is impressive! IBM barely has mention of Server 2008 R2 on their website, but HP already has their Support Pack for R2 ready to go as of last weekend!

Be careful with this new SP - it dumped a whole bunch of graphic files and such to the root of my C: drive when I installed it (I think part of SMH or VCA). Seems buggy (and annoying - I hate it when vendors that just drop files all over the place).
