Hi, but smartstart is only supposed to be used when re-installing a server.

You should install 'Proliant Support Pack' if you want to install the agents after the OS has been installed.

Hello,

To enable hardware monitoring (Proliant DL380G6 - RHEL5), we try to install the lastest Smart Start via the ISO. The hpsum program fails immediately whith the following error in the log: Couldn't launch module ./SourceClient; unable to continue

I tried the silent option as several posts mention issues with X. Same issue.

All the required rpm in the readme file were installed.

Any advice?

Is there any alternative to Smart Start to enable hardware monitoring?

Thanks,

Emmanuel.

Johan,

You're right. However, HP makes it very confusing to know exactly what is what...

The readme file on the ISO I downloaded says:

Welcome to SmartStart v8.70

The SmartStart CD provides several tools for Linux users to enhance the deployment and manageability of ProLiant servers.

The Linux ProLiant Support Pack (PSP) contains the latest tested and approved set of drivers, utilities, agents, and applications for your ProLiant server. The Linux PSP provides GUI-based, terminal window-based or silent scriptable installations of its contents.

I'm not sure anymore...

The instructions clearly refer to an installed system. So I think this is the support pack.

Emmanuel.

In the end, you were right. I looked again at the various downloads available, and retrieved the latest PSP. It worked.

Thanks,

Emmanuel.
