topic ProLiant ML 330 G6 - OS and RAID-Level? in ProLiant Servers (ML,DL,SL)

Hi guys!

I am planning to by a ProLiant ML 330 G6. Now I have two questions remaining:

1.) What OS is actually supported? In the drivers section of the HP homepage there is a download for Windows Server 2003 but not for 2003 SBS. For 2008 there are entries for Server 2008 and Server 2008 SBS. So can I use the 2003 drivers for 2003 SBS also?

2.) What RAID levels are supported by the built in Smart Array controller? The system specs at my hardware dealers site just state 0,1 and 10. But this must be an error - there has to be a RAID5 level, or isn't?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi!

1. windows 2003 SBS is supported on ML330 G6 as stated in the below posted link. I guess you can use the windows 2003 drivers as they don't offer anything else.

http://h71028.www7.hp.com/enterprise/cache/583787-0-0-0-121.html

2. Yes according to product bulletin only Raid0, Raid1 and Raid 1+0

Thanks for the info. Is this because it is only a software RAID or has RAID10 any substancial advantage over RAID5?
