Hi Bruce,

There are two possibilities:

1) You may have wrong SCSI Point to Point Cable installed -- Such as Ultra Wide Cable instead of LVD Cable -- Give us a call and we can ship SCSI LVD 30" Point-to-point Part #163351-001 -- This is a desposable part (Meaning nothing to return)

2) Also it could be an agent problem. Try upgrading agents by installing current PSP (Proliant Support Paq)

Good Luck,

RON

I have a Proliant 1600 server with six 9.1 wide ultra2 drives. I also have a 3200 controller installed. The Compaq Insight Manager tells me that these drives have a current speed of: ultra2(40MTS). I thought I was supposed to get 80Mbps transfer speed. Can anyone help me understand this difference?

What is the phone number and do you have a rough idea how much such a cable will cost?

Actually "Bruce" if Server is still under warranty we would ship SCSI Cable free.

PS: I work Midnight Shift, so reason for delay in responding.

Good luck,

Ron

I built my Proliant 1600 from parts bought on ebay and other places. So I doubt that any warantee exists. But thinking about my problem, the server came with the 5 drive bay and used wide SCSI 3 drives( the white plastic ones). I replaced the drive cage with an ultra 2 cage but didn't get a different cable. I have a ton of downloaded information for the 1600, but couldn't find anything about what cable I should be using. My literature seemed to say that the same cable would work. So your thoughts about cabling might be just the ticket to get 80Mbps transfer.
