Hi

When I try to install new driver (dated feb 2009)(ver 4.6.17) it will fail with error

HP Virtual Bus Device installation requires a newer version. Version 4.6.16.0 is required.

What should I do now?

I have just run into the same problem as well on a DL385 G5p server. Hopefully someone knows the answer.

I found the solution by doing a google search on "4.6.16.0". This allowed me to download the older version of the driver, in my case for Server 2003 x64 - cp009682.exe.

After installing this version I was able to install the newer 4.6.17 version successfully. Looks like HP did not fully QA this new driver installing against a fresh SmartStart 8.15 PSP installation.

Just in case HP reads this - although you can work around this isse, it's absolutely rediculous that my admins now have to manually load a particular driver version before running 8.20 or higher on a machine already running 8.15.

Meanwhile i received the solution from HP.
It was simply disconnecting the second server wich is standing by in an sort of an cluster.

The data send between the clustered servers was preventing the update.
