topic Drive will not Rebuild / Fail-Over in ProLiant Servers (ML,DL,SL)

Hello,

I have a Compaq DL380 running Windows 2000 Server SP2. Compaq Management Agents v5.20. Experienced a drive failure, swapped the drive and noticed that the rebuild did not take place -- or at least it did not complete.

I then inserted a different, new replacement drive and watched it rebuild. Once it got to the end it simply stopped again.

This just so happens to be a drive from my RAID 1 mirror set for the Operating System - very concerned. Also, the drive did not fail over to the hot spare which also exists.

I am going to update the Firmware, etc. and just wanted to reach out for any experiences from the group.

Thanks!

make sure, the new drive has the same or bigger size as the old drive. I had seen drives from Compaq wich are 2 or 3 meg smaller as the older one. If this happens contact HP for an replacment. And only HP/Compaq orginal drives will work on an HP/Compaq array controller.

You can diagnostic all problems with Compaq Array Diagnostic Utility
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/15125.html

-Zahni

The drives replaced were the same size as the original.

Firmware update did not solve the problem.

I will be replacing the 5300 to observe the results.
