ML310Gen 8 - Raid upgrade

Hello to all,

i have an ML310 Gen 8 with Non-Hot Plug Hdd Installed 4 x1TB (B120 Controller on board) and i would like to upgrade with an Smart Array P222 or Smart Array P420 controller

I check the quickspecs and its compatible both.

Do i need extra cables to connect non hot plug drives with controller?

Hi,

ML 310 have one embedded Raid CTRL changing to other controller you must look cage connector to see if it is compatible with your choice.

Did you try client service reporting the change you want, reporting machine they can help you on needed changes.

I don't have a ML310e Gen8 handy to verify, but the B120i/B320i generally uses a mini SAS connector. This is the same connector on the P222 and P420

The SAS cable will be disconnected from the system board (B120i) and plugged into the P420 card.
That's it.
According to the specs this kind of roaming is supported for these controllers (data will survive).
