New hdd not detect on HP DL180 G6 - SmartArray B110i SATA RAID Embedded

Dear all,

My existing environment are;

HP DL180 G6

Smart Array B110i SATA RAID Embedded

1 x 250GB SATA - Configure as RAID 0 - Array A - logical disk1

i want add 1 x 250GB hdd, create new Array B & create new logical disk2,

at power on state server, i plug the new 1 x 250GB.. my new hdd doesn't detect, either by HP ACU/by Windows 2008 svr

1. do i have to power off my server first for having my new hdd detected?

2. did i miss something out or what for having not detected hdd??

after little search, i found about "HP Smart Array B110i SATA Raid Controller Hot Plug Advance Pack"

3. does this license is mandatory for make my new hdd detect & able to configure?

4. is it possible to detect & configure new hdd without buy advance pack license?

Are you sure the disk you're trying to add is SATA?, the B110i doesn't support SAS
