topic HP Smart Array 642 Controller Stopped Working in ProLiant Servers (ML,DL,SL)

HP Proliant DL380 G5 with Windows 2008 R2 and OS on Smart Array P400.
I also have an HP Smart Array 642 controller that was working connecting by Ultra SCSI 320 to my HP MSA20 with two RAID 5 volumes. Thought I would be smart and update the driver. Now the Device manager shows yellow exclamation mark. I first tried loading last known good configuration and the tried rolling back the driver, neither worked.
The device cannot start (code 10). I found KB943104 in reference to the code 10 which had a FixIt. However since the server is Windows 2008 R2 the fixit does not pop up, so I looked at the manual fix which says to click on the Upper Filters and delete. There were none in the registry. In registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E97B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
If I use the Softpaq SP41765 I simply get “Raid Controller” Driver Version 6.12.6.65, but no connection to hard drives. If I use Softpaq SP59746 it shows up as Driver Version 6.6.0.64 and I get the Code 10.
Neither driver shows up in Array Configuration utility.
However the 642 shows up when rebooting connecting to two disks.
To switch back to the RAID Controller version I have to uninstall and delete drives which causes a unexpected error and a reboot.
Is this controller broken, or is there a fix?
These are the initial parts of the errors I found in the event viewer after updating the driver:
Log Name: System
Source: hpqcissb
Date: 2/18/2015 9:13:47 AM
Event ID: 22
Task Category: None
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: Servername
Description:
At least one of the memory, configuration table, or interrupt resources is missing for controller \Device\HpqCISS\Controller0.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Log Name: System
Source: Application Popup
Date: 2/18/2015 1:07:48 PM
Event ID: 1060
Task Category: None
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: Servername
Description:
\SystemRoot\SysWow64\drivers\cqdetect.sys has been blocked from loading due to incompatibility with this system.
