Hi! I have red light on my hp proliant server hdd, but its working without problems, how the server know that hdd are broken, i need understand algorithm, thanks.

Hi,
The server to know HDD status about S.M.A.R.T threshold value.

LED is red Flashing : It is pre alarm of broken.
LED is red Lighting : It is broken.

I'm easy described. Is this ok ?

if the server is still functional, one would assume you have some type of RAID configured and this is protecting your data. Most RAID levels (except 0) can handle a single disk failure. You need to determine what RAID level you have configured using a tool like HPSSA or hpssacli (older tools were ACU and hpacucli) once you know what your dealing with you should then replace the faulty drive.
