topic Ilo scripting in ProLiant Servers (ML,DL,SL)

We are writing some custom scripting for monitoring ilo2/4 hardware health. As I don't currently have a faulty system to gauge, depending on the failure, can ilo ever report a faulty device as non present and not in a error state? In other words, if you are monitoring fans, must you query once and therefor acquire a baseline of reported metrics?

Thanks!
