Hi,

I know this post is about a year old. I was just wondering if you found a resolution to the issues as we have the exact same set up and having the same issue updating the controller.

Thank you

Good day,

I'm trying to update the B320i raid controllers of our DL380e through the ESXi console

From the HP Support Center I found this:

Type: Firmware - Storage Controller

Version: 15.10.05.00 (27 Feb 2014)

Operating System(s): OS Independent, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (AMD64/EM64T), Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Server (x86-64), Microsoft Windows Server 2008 x64, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (AMD64/EM64T), Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, VMware ESX/ESXi 4.1, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Server (x86-64), VMware ESXi 5.0, Microsoft Windows Server 2012, VMware vSphere 5.1, VMware vSphere 5.5, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (x86), Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Server (x86), Microsoft Windows Server 2008 W32, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (x86), Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Server (x86), Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2, Microsoft Windows HPC Server 2008 R2

File name:CP022078.scexe (1.2 MB)

Unfortunately when I execute the CP022078.scexe it does nothing:

/vmfs/volumes/51300c3c-c71c908f-4d31-d89d67799974 # ./CP022078.scexe

Executing "./hpraidflash -listall"

vmfs/volumes/51300c3c-c71c908f-4d31-d89d67799974 #

The version currently running is definately lower, here's the output from 2 of our servers:

~ # /opt/hp/hpssacli/bin/hpssacli controller all show detail | grep Version

 RAID Stack Version: 3.00

 HBA Firmware Version: 15.10.01.00

HBA Mode Option ROM Version: 07.25.05.00

 Option ROM Version:3.54-0

 Driver Version: 0.0.5

~ # /opt/hp/hpssacli/bin/hpssacli controller all show detail | grep Version

 RAID Stack Version: 3.00

 HBA Firmware Version: 13.10.141.00

HBA Mode Option ROM Version: 07.20.14.00

 Option ROM Version:3.10-0

 Driver Version: 0.0.5

I modified the install script a little bit to see what it's actually doing and it seems it simply doesn't detect the controller.

Only this unusual in our setup is maybe that we have modified the boot order as we are booting the servers from the on-board SDCard socket.

Any advice how I could "make it detect the controller"? Is there any other way I can update the firmware (i.e. throuh iLO)?

Thanx in advance.

No, we did not find a solution to perform the update through esxi.

I've done the last updates with the "HP Service Pack for ProLiant" DVD mounted through the iLO card. Not sure if the B320i was updated though we are not using them anymore (we've upgraded to hardware raid controllers in an attempt to reduce the interrupt rate on the main processors and in order to get raid6 support).
