Adding a spare drive to and existing RAID 5 on DL 380 G7

Hi,

We have a DL 380 G7 server with 5 drives configured as RAID 5. It is running VMware hypervisor esxi 6. Is it possible to add a sixth drive to the system to use as a hot spare without affecting the current configuration? If possible without bringing down the server.

I think it's possible if you have an HP Smart Array Advanced Pack license.

Unfortunately we don't have the advanced pack license. If we buy the license then we will do RAID 6 anyway. I know the current license supports RAID 5 + 1 hot spare (I have configured another machine that way) I just want to know if I can do it (add a drive) without rebuilding everything.
