Hi Derek,
This has to do with the NIC Management Agent. Please download the latest NIC Agent and install them. Here's the link:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/16551.html
This should resolve your error.

Mark

I'm getting 10 Errors dumped into the Windows 2000 System Event Log - every 2 minutes - as follows:
Component Compaq NIC management Agent Error:
Unable to open the registry key "%1".
Cause: This error can be caused by a corrupt registry or a low memory condition. Rebooting the server may correct this error.

OS Win.2000 Server (SP3)

Problem started when we installed the MS loopback Adapter.

Tried rebooting - Nah!
Memory problems - Nope!

Registry entry HKLM\SYSTEM\CPQNIC had disappeared. So manually recreated this key and then restarted services Compaq NIC and Foundation Agents.
The CPQNIC key disappeared again.

Anyone got any ideas how to cure this one??

Thanks

OK - I've upgraded the Compaq NIC software. (version 6.10.1.0)

The Compaq NIC Agent was started (noted in the System Event Log)- alas it died again a few seconds later.
The corresponding entry in the Application Event Log gives a Dr Watson failure:
Exception c0000005 at 10002AB6

Good news - this time it didn't delete the (manually created) CPQNIC registry key...

Mark,

Only the client stuff (Oracle 9iAS Web Server).
This was previously working OK...

I've rebooted the box - and this gives (perhaps) another clue. Heres the Error message in the System event log:

Component: Compaq NIC SNMP management Agent Error.
The SNMP Agent is older than other components.
Cause: The SNMP Agent is older than the other components of the Insight Agents.
Reinstall all the entire Insight Agents package to correct this error.

Is there a update/patch for the SMNP Agent. Or should we install a later version ?

Cheers
Hi Derek,
What type of server and NIC is being used.
A temporary fix might be to go into the Control Panel and go to Compaq Mngmnt Agents and move the NIC information over to Inactive Agents. Again this depends on the NIC and the server.

Mark
