What's the part # of the cache board you installed? Make sure you get that right off the board itself and not from an invoice of what you *think* you ordered... :) Just in case your supplier sent you the wrong part, for a P400 for instance.

Also post the part # of the battery module.. the ones for the P400 and P410 are similar in appearance but they're different and are not swappable between cache modules. You'd probably get a POST error in that case (I've had that happen when I swapped a P410 battery with an old P400 pack, or maybe it was the other way around).

Hello,

we recently installed a 1GB bbwc on a p410i smart array, dl 385 G7.

upon restarting the server we saw the following error in iLO:

POST error: 1795 - slot X drive array - cache module configuration error - data does not correspond to this drive array. caching is temp disabled.

we then ssh'd to the server (it has esxi installedd) and through hpsscli, found the following error:

cache status: temporarily disabled

cache status details: cache disabled; wrong cache board attached

Now, the part number is correct as we have checked. the previous cache board (no battery) was 256MB and functioning ok. the firmware version at the moment is 5.70. there are firmware updgrades available but none of them address the issue we are having. also, given the environment (dont want to update for no reason).

has anyone experienced the error above or has experience of dealing with this type of issue? will the latest firmware definitely address the error we are facing?

btw, battery is full charged and not displaying any errors

Smart Array P410i in Slot 0 (Embedded)
Bus Interface: PCI
Slot: 0
Serial Number:
Cache Serial Number:
Controller Status: Not OK
Hardware Revision: C
Firmware Version: 5.70
Rebuild Priority: Medium
Expand Priority: Medium
Surface Scan Delay: 15 secs
Surface Scan Mode: Idle
Parallel Surface Scan Supported: No
Queue Depth: Automatic
Monitor and Performance Delay: 60 min
Elevator Sort: Enabled
Degraded Performance Optimization: Disabled
Inconsistency Repair Policy: Disabled
Wait for Cache Room: Disabled
Surface Analysis Inconsistency Notification: Disabled
Post Prompt Timeout: 0 secs
Cache Board Present: True
Cache Status: Temporarily Disabled
Cache Status Details: Cache disabled; wrong cache board attached.
Cache Ratio: 25% Read / 75% Write
Drive Write Cache: Disabled
Total Cache Size: 1024 MB
Total Cache Memory Available: 912 MB
No-Battery Write Cache: Enabled
Cache Backup Power Source: Capacitors
Battery/Capacitor Count: 1
Battery/Capacitor Status: OK
SATA NCQ Supported: True
Number of Ports: 2 Internal only
Driver Name: HP HPSA
Driver Version: 0.0.0
PCI Address (Domain:Bus:Device.Function): 0000:03:00.0
Host Serial Number:
Sanitize Erase Supported: False
Primary Boot Volume: None
Secondary Boot Volume: None
