Hi Foler,

DL380 G5 had known issue with older PSU revision. However, new revision of PSU has fixed for this issue.

if you have replaced both the PSU and PPM already then need to replace Power backplane to fix the issue. You may register a case ON ITRC with all the details with HP.

Further narrowign down the issue:

1. check with 1 PSU at a time.
2. bring the server to base configuration and check.
3. if you got identical working server then can swap PSU and power supply backplane for testing.

thanks,
Aftab

Hi Foler,

this is strange behaviour.

If your server is serviced within the 90 days from HP with or without the warranty for the same issue, you can log a re-repair call with hp.

components related to power issues are : Power supply, Power suppply backplane, PPM, processor and Power switch itself.

only thing related to this power behaviour which is not replaced in your case is Power switch assembly.

thanks,
Aftab

hi all,

I know this is an old post, but does anyone have solution for the issue with this problem yet?

we had one DL320 G5 running Sharepoint and it was down a couple of days ago. At that time, we could smell like plastic burnt. I removed the server out of the rack, let it cool down (approx. 30min) )and then tried to boot it again. It was on at that time somehow.

I could check HP SMH page to later find out that ASR process was run, apart from that nothing was helpful to identify the cause of the issue.

It was down again with internal health light at front panel flashing red, on system board PPM and CPU lights are amber. We ordered CPU already but not sure if we should replace it because it seems like 50/50 case.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

have similar issue,

got a new power supply and ppm.

works perfect for the first week. but the server shuts down unexpectedly over the weekend.

just switch the power supply to the alternate slot - if it works fine means my existing power back panel is faulty.

wish me luck guys..
