Hi,

Stupid question, did you create volume in hp smart array controller either raid 1 or raid 0.

Regards,

Piotr

I bought a refurbished DL380 G5 with two SSD as boot drives in a RAID. I tried to fill the other six slots with 1TB HGST mechanical drives, but the Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise OS doesn't recognize these drives.

At startup, (I first tried only one drive) the added drive's green LED flckers once or twice and then the server boots normally, but the added drive is not recognized in Server Manager's Storage window, even rescanning and refreshing the drives.

I moved the drive to all the slots, but no change.

I checked the BIOS settings but couldn't find anything that looked suspicious.

Any ideas or comments?

You cannot access the disks directly, you need to use SSA and create a logical drive on them.
