For memory population, see https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c05227249

You should have four channels per processor with the white slots noting the first slot in the channel. It would seem to me that you would want a DIMM in the first slot of each channel (one in each white slot). According to the "memory subsystem architecture" table in the link, it lists out the population order. Take a look at population order A, B, C, D.

For the drives, simply insert them and use the Smart Storage Administrator GUI to create your new array. See https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c03909334

Thanks for reply.

The server is a Hyer v Host. I have 3 servers running on this.

So I can just insert the disk and startup the server and open ilo from the windows?

Or do need to config the disk on startup?

Under most circumstances you can simply insert the drives into a running system and they will just be unassigned. From there, you can launch the Windows based Array Configuration Utility or Smart Storage Administrator (SSA) and create your new logical drive out of your physical drives. From there, rescan the disks in windows and create/format your new partition. You can also shut the system down, insert the drives, then choose the correct startup option to boot into the ACU or SSA before the OS boots.

ACU User guide (old)

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/alphaserver/storage/controllers/sa6400a/239449-009.PDF

Smart Storage Administrator guide (newer)

https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c03909334
