Hello,

We've tried to add a cache module & battery to our P410 array controller on our ML330 server, but the server now fails to boot. This is what we did:

Shutdown the server and unplugged the power cord.

Plugged the battery into the cache module

Inserted the cache module into the array controller

Switched the server on

I have attached a picture of the error message we got. It seems like we should update the firmware to fix this issue? If so, can anyone provide a link to the correct download?

Thank you for your help.

Once we have installed the firmware, is it a case of shutting down the server, plugging the module in and then booting the server back up? Does the controller then need to be reconfigured or will it detect the drives as normal?

Hi

The information 1785, only inform that don't have raid configurate for this smart array P410

Can you use press - F8 to configure Raid or use Smart Start CD.

Normally this is used for new configuration,

If you have SO or Data, in this HD, connected to P410 without RAID.

When you create a new array the HD will be formated and the data will be clear.

One more information, the battery needs 72hours to full charge

If everything works as expected with the module removed, I would try this.

First and foremost, make sure you have a valid data backup

Power off, unplug drives (not necessary to remove from drive bay, just unplug from backplane connector
Install cache module and upgrade controller firmware
Power off, plug drives back in and power back on.

All the array information is stored on each drive in the array. The newer controller firmware supports arrays created with older controller firmware.

I have seen this error, but only when moving drives from one machine to another, where the replacement system has older controller firmware. A firmware update resolves the issue
