In addition to ensuring that there is a valid version for the power management controller and also re-flashing it with the latest available version, you may also perform the following in case the issue persists.

Power the server OFF.
Reset iLO 2 using the iLO 2 web page, under "Diagnostics" click the "Reset" button.
Power the server ON.

If the issue continues, run a test within iLO diagnostics and check for any failed tests.

If this condition is still occurring, perform the following:

Power the server OFF.
Remove AC power from the chassis (remove the power cords) for at least 20 seconds, then restore AC power.
Power the server ON.

Just wanted to ask for help in following issue:

HP ML350 G6 server with redundant power supply, 750W each no errors during boot or in IML logs have error in the iLO2 interface related to power:

Error reading power values from microcontroller. No valid data can be gathered

Unable to communicate with power microcontroller

Server is updated to all current firmware and othervise runs OK, with only one issue: restarts itself after shutdown. (BIOS is set to: NOT RESTART AFTER SHUTDOWN)

System ROM: D22 (05/21/2018)

iLO2 Firmware: V2.33 (03/20/2018) Advanced version

RAM installed: 144GB 1333mhz (6 x 8GB + 6 x 16GB)

As reccomended in few old posts, server was shut down compleately, disconnected from power and restarted in 20 min, did not resolved the issue.

Any help would be much apprecaited.

Hi,

You may try with another set of Power supplies if you have OR you may try updating the Power Management Controller (ML/DL G6 Servers).

https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=3884318&swItemId=MTX_86b95a5491b948329d410312c5&swEnvOid=4184
https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=3884318&swItemId=MTX_9e9edf3917314973a3f5f2e9ec&swEnvOid=4184
https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=3884318&swItemId=MTX_0aef377c5472478cafae72d412&swEnvOid=4184

Try any of the above links depending on the OS on your server.

Thank You!
I am an HPE Employee

Was the post useful?

Hi Suman_1978, thanks for the links, the server runs Microsoft server 2016 Hyper-V host, so I have tried Winx64 version of the flash, but have got a following error message:

"The software is not supported for installation on this system. Unable to communicate with the Power Management Controller. You may able to correct this problem by cycling power"

Tried following:

Shut down server, disconnect power cabled from it. Waited 5 min. Connected power, log into iLO2 interface, reset iLO2. Started server.

No any improvements, result is still the same.

Unfortunately do not have now pair of power supplies to replace, may find in few day.

Any other suggestions?

Regards.
