Ive just bricked 3x DL360 G10s with this issue.

I resolved by logging into ilo web interface, with server power off

Firmware & OS Software >

deleting all items from the ilo installation queue

deleting all items from ilo repository

download SPSGen10_04.00.04.288.signed.bin from https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX-7c14bc5f198a4761bb70335faa#tab2

(CHECK THE SHA256 sig as mine was corrupt initally)

Upload the SPSGen10_04.00.04.288.signed.bin into the llo repository

Apply update to que. (note server power state must be off for this to work)

1 of my severs had to pull power leads to recover, other 2 ok.

Hope this helps someone else.

Hope this is an ML110 Gen10 server model. Does this server model have a dedicated iLO port or Shared port? Do you see any error when attempting to enter the BIOS? If yes, please share the screen shots of the error that you see when you try to enter BIOS.

Thank you

Hello all

I received the same error after an unhappy power cut during SPS update on two of customer's DL360 servers.

The path I choosed was a little bit different: using 7zip, I extracted the .signed.bin file from the .fwpkg package and then Update Firmware option from iLO. The server was off.

All the repo files remained in place, nothing needed to be erased.

I hope this will help someone.

All the best
Costin

Helped me with 380 G10 as well. I believe eny version will work, cleaning the queue is required, repository not, but most important - any new version shoud be extracted and bin file from extracted archive must be used.

Confirmed these steps work. I had the same issue on a Gen 10 DL 360! I made the steps a bit more clear -

Log into iLO, make sure server power is OFF.

Go to Firmware & OS Software Tab

Delete all items from the Installation Queue

Delete all unlocked items in the iLO Repository

Download this specific version of Server Platform Services - SPSGen10_04.00.04.288.signed.bin from https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX-7c14bc5f198a4761bb70335faa#tab2

Upload the SPSGen10_04.00.04.288.signed.bin into the iLO repository

Once uploaded, click the carboard box icon on the left of the file in the iLO repository. If you hover over it, it should say Install Component.

This will install the .bin file immediately.

Check the installation queue and it should say In Progress.

It should finish installing in about 10 mins.

Once it is finished, a green bar at the top of iLO will say firmware update complete. Power on host for changes to take effect.

Physically pull both of the power cables out of the back of the server and wait 30 seconds. (If you try to power the host on immediately, iLO remote console will not work.)

Plug the power cables back in.

Power on the server.

The error should be gone now, and the host will complete POST successfully. F9, F10, F11, and F12 will all be available now.

@Michael Nordsven Thanks for the hint to swap CPUs. I had an Alletra 4120 where i got the Error Code: 0x3038, and couldn't flash anything. Not the same release, not the original that came with the server, neither as a fwpkg nor as the extracted bin file, nor the rpm together with the comsig file, everytime when flashing came a red bar complaining about the file's signature.

So i pulled the power cables, removed CPU 2, powered on, and it posted and booted without a hitch (only memory training took a bit longer). Aft6er booting the OS successfully, i powered down the server, pulled cables again, re-seated CPU 2 and powered on. Again it posted and booted perfectly fine, so thanks again for the hint.
