Hi All.

I have a DL380 G7 WITH A p410 Array controller that has a 6 disk raid 5 array. Disk 3 was replaced as it was showing a predictive failure warning with 87 hard read errors. The replacement disk rebuilt without any issues but is showing the exact same amount of hard read errors as the failed disk. The array controller is running the latest firmware and drivers. Could another componenet like the drive cage be causing all of these errors?

********************

Action plan

This could be due to some problem with logical drive or controller or hard drive from where its trying to rebuild... before we try anything I would suggest you to take complete backup.

Once backup is done.

Power Drain the server.

reseat all the hard drives (Offline)

ensure proper connections for hard drive, controller and cabling.

Turn the server ON let controller be re-initialized... you may prompt to start the logical drive recovery process by pressing the F1 or F2 please start the recovery process.

monitor the rebuild process.

if it does not rebuild or stay at the same message, you may try updating server bios and Smart array controller firmware and again repeat the previous steps.

if still issue is following up cature ADU report and offline report and contact HPE.

Thank you

Ravi swamy

Ravi.

The full back up was defnitelly required as it was a punctured raid scenario with every single replacement disk copying back sectors accross and not rebuilding properlly.

I eventually had to recreate the array after deleting the old array and replacing both of the disks at the same time and restore the backed up data.

Andrew
