I have a ProLiant DL380p Gen8 currently with several 146GB SAS 15K HDDs model EH0146FBQDC. Have since purchased some more for a new array but have been sent EH0146FARUB. Searched everywhere but I can't find any specs online on either drive.

Are they interchangeable?

Also, how do I know if they are genuine and indeed new and not refurbished drives?

Thanks, Andrew.

Thanks for the reply. Both drives are listed in the document under SAS drives, but I am not sure what that tells me? They do seem to be interchangeable based on the spare part number.

This is the drive sent to me: OneDrive shared image. Hopefully you can open and see that image. What concerns me the most I guess is that GPN sticker stuck over the top of another number which I cannot read. Does this mean it has been refurbished and is not brand new?

Thanks again.

spare partno. for EH0146FARUB:

512744-001 or 653950-001 or 504334-001

spare partno for EH0146FBQDC

512744-001 or 653950-001

This is matching.

Rule of the thumb: if a disk has the same specs it might get the same partno and can be replaced by the same spart partno.

This looks OK.

Is it new (after 8 years)? You may ask the vendor where you get the drives from.

Is it new (after 8 years)?

I'm guessing they are not as, in the end, I plugged them in and they all have a service hours in the 40,000's.

So, back to the vendor.

Thanks for your input.
