Hi I have a brand new server P11052-421 it came with 32Gb of Ram (P02052-091). I added 2 * 16Gb part number P00922-B21 (P03050-091) I put them in Dimm slot 10 and 12 as per memory map. The server see the 64Gb of ram but I am getting this error on boot up.

209 Unsupported Dimm Configuration detected installed dimm configuration does not support configured AMP mode system will operate in advanced ecc mode major code 0000003A minor code 00000000

I would really appreciate some advice.

Hi,

Please ensure that "Advanced ECC memory configuration" mode set in BIOS.

Ensure that all the memory's are are same rank and width.

also update latest BIOS rom firmware.

Regards,

Sudhir

In order to use ADDDC (A3DC) AMP mode, you would need DIMMs which have x4 layout.

HPE Fast Fault Tolerance Minimum requirements:
• There must be a minimum of two ranks on each populated channel.
• Furthermore, only HPE SmartMemory in x4 organization can be used

Assembly Part number: P03050-091
[Option Part number: P00922-B21 | Spare part number: P06188-001]

The DIMM has a x8 layout.
HPE 16GB (1x16GB) Dual Rank x8 DDR4-2933 CAS-21-21-21 Registered Smart Memory Kit

Therefore, please use DIMMs which have x4 layout in order to use Fast Fault Tolerance AMP mode.

Setting the memory in BIOS to the Advanced EEC was the fix for me. It didn't seem to be hurting anything as it was because it automatically fell back to that setting but it did not adjust it in BIOS and gave the error every boot. Once the EEC was manually set it worked flawlessly. Hey HP how about giving a third option. F1 to continue F2 for more information or F3 to set the BIOS to the correct setting for the memory installed?
