Hi

Follow the below action plan to isolate the issue.

1. Power drain the server and check the status.

Steps To Power drain the server:

i. Remove both power cables.

ii. Press and hold power button without connecting power cables.

iii. Later release power button and connect power cables and power on the server.

2. Clear NVRAM.

The following steps may be performed to clear the server NVRAM by accessing the system maintenance switch on the system board.

a. Remove the access panel, and locate the system maintenance switch on system board.

b. Move switch S6 from default 'Off' position to 'On', install the access panel.

c. Connect the power plugs and power up the server.

d. When a message indicates that a maintenance switch has been turned on and the unit has been reset, power it off, remove access panel and reverse switch S6.

e. Connect the power plugs and power up the server and check the status.

3. If still issue continued, bring the server to bare minimum configuration and check the status.

4. Verify all parts one by one to isolate the issue.

Hi mqadar,
If you already tried the Power drain steps and were not successful, then you can try to identify the issue in the IML logs.
You can go with these steps to make the server ON-
1. Try to observe the Temperature, fan, and power supply related issues in IML logs.
2. If you are facing the issue after adding any device such as an Add-on HBA card, then remove and try to boot.
3. Try to boot with minimal hardware by removing all the Add-on cards, additional power supply, etc.
4. Check whether the processor heat sink is heating more.
4. Lastly, sometimes it works if you reseat the DIMMs etc.

Hi mqadar,
This link tells the issue is due to a firmware issue where the network adapter does not properly report increased temperatures, causing the system shutdown.
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-a00052011en_us#:~:text=%22Critical%20Temperature%20Threshold%20Exceeded%20ACTION,temperatures%2C%20causing%20potential%20system%20shutdown.

Here is the URL for downloading the Innovation Engine Firmware. This includes Revision history, and installation instructions as well -
https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/softwaredetails?language=en_US&softwareId=MTX-c584e6e40338427595214893b1&tab=revisionHistory

So,
1) Please try to update your Server Firmware.
2) Please check fans air flow should not be stopped. Sometime blockage in air flow will increase the server temperature.

Regards,
Shivarudrappa Ranjanagi

Hi mqadar,

What is the current firmware version the system has?
Did you try with any other lower version of the firmware update?
I think, updating Innovation Engine (IE) Firmware version 0.2.3.0, the system requires a minimum version of 0.2.2.3.
Please try intermediate versions and later upgrade to 0.2.3.0.

Regards,
Shiva
