Hello,

When you say Single-Mode and Multi-mode you are talking about the type of Fiber cable you are using to connect the server NIC to a switch. You also have to consider the SFP that you are using in the NIC ports. Short-Wave SFPs are normally used with Multi-mode cables for shorter distances. Long-wave SFPs are used with Single mode cables for longer distances.

So to answer your question having two different types of SFPs in the same 2-port does not make sense.

Please let me know if I am uderstanding your question correctly.

Regards,

Hello, is it possible to use a 10GB network adapter in a DL380G10+ single- and multimode at the same time? Many thanks. Markus

Hello, thank you very much for your answer. You have understood the question correctly. However, it can make sense to use two different fiber types on one network card. For example in a cluster configuration. Port 0 points to the public LAN with a Multimode/ShortWave SFP and port 1 is used via Singlemode/LongWave SFP for the heartbeat. By using a second network card with the same configuration you are failsafe if one network card fails.
Now the question arises whether two different SFPs are possible in one network card.
Thanks a lot!

Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

And some Customer patch one Cable/Port to a local Data Center Switch and the other to a remote Data Center Switch which needs a long distance.

In that case, it makes sense.

Cali

Hello,

It is possible as long as the SFP is compatible from both the ends of the ports the cables are connected to.

You could refer to the below links for the same.
