I happen to have an ever so cute ML30 Gen10 running Freebsd 13, which it does so for months on end without an problem. The fans just tick over, the spinning rust spins, you name it.

The only thing is, there is no "Agentless Management Service" for freebsd, only for antiquated linuxes. (It's a complete misnomer anyway, since you need this "agent" if you want to do cute things like "Logging events to OS logs" or anything. It just feels... incomplete.

Apart from a couple of HP JP employees that seem to do this in their spare time:

If you aren't going to support it, at least release the source code so us poor freebsd users can get into a glorious sticky mess. (Also so that gen8 people using linux from this millenia can do the same thing...)

The Free BSD is not supported. Test the server with a supported operating system. Check the supported operating system matrix:-

Install a supported OS and check and install AMS to isolate fan issue. If the issue still persists then it is possibly a HW or config issue.

I am fully aware that HP does not support FreeBSD. That is not the issue here.

What I would really like to see is the availability of AMS source such that people who choose to run OSes:

that don't cost an arm, leg and major orifice (redhat), or worship systemd
can use the nice reliable hardware that they like with the OS they want to use.

In my case, freebsd on this ML30 Gen10. The other issue is the much beloved Microserver Gen8, which you _did_ support and seem to have abandoned, leaving only AMS for some version of linux from 5 years ago. If you aren't going to support up to date versions of the OS on these lovable toys, please release the source code for whatever the last version is so that users can continue to use them.

eg, ubuntu on a microserver gen 8 (hell, even gen10 no plus)

Yeah understand your concern regarding the availability of the HP Agentless Management Service (AMS) source code for FreeBSD and other non-Linux operating systems.

Unfortunately, as mentioned, HPE does not officially support FreeBSD or other non-Linux operating systems for its servers. This means that there is no official release of AMS for FreeBSD, and HPE is not obligated to provide the source code for it.

However, there might be a possibility of finding an open-source or community-driven project that provides AMS functionality for FreeBSD or other non-Linux operating systems. You could search for such projects on forums or websites dedicated to FreeBSD or server administration.
