Good morning,

My question is the following one:

equipment and storage:

- hpe proliant dl380 gen10 plus with MR416i-a gen10+ raid controller.

- 2 internal disks: 486Gb SATA SSD not in raid (sda, sdb: boot/OS on sda with 4 partitions; sdb empty)

- 6 external disks on RAID5 (HW)

problem/question:

- the person that installed the OS did not create any RAID with internal disks and we would like to have a RAID-1 (Hardware) with the 2 internal disks:

- Is it possible to create a RAID.-1 HW without removing the data/installation already done (/dev/sda)?:

* by BIOS it seems not possible.

* by HPE MR Storage Administrator tool?, a JBOD to Unconfigured Good conversion is required and therefore data would be lost. ?

Many thanks in advance,

Carlos.

Hi Tamariz,

If the MR controller is in passthrough mode in Gen 10 plus then, we cannot configure the RAID partitions.

The data will be lost if you try to make the configuration in RAID mode.

As in the below snap, MR model will support the Mixed mode (RAID & HBA) which will support to configure in both RAID mode and passthrough/HBA mode. Try this. I have no practical experience on this.

Please refer this document for more information.

Regards,

Just backup all files to some safe place and rebuild your server as you like. Then restore copied files and enjoy.

There is not any other option.

Best,
