Hello,

a short introduce for myself. I´m just apployed in a security installation company and manage whole portofolio of all IT subjects. as technical manager But I don´t know all. <LI-EMOJI id="lia_winking-face" title=""></LI-EMOJI>

We have an installation for videorecording with DL360 Gen9 server and also 2600 expansions.

At this time we exchange the 4,5 year old 8 TB harddisks at the expansion. All working fine till now. All drives are managed with RAID5 and include all the same harddisk type. Also only one logical drive is assigned to the related harddisk / bays.

Now we start the exchange on dirves of RAID5, where are 2 logical drives are assigned. I.e. drive 2 and drive 3.

When we change the disk , normaly the RAID5 should secure the hold of data. On the disks with one drive assigned, that working fine. Only on the disk with 2 drives it seem, that the frirst drive is recovering/rebuilding and the second seems to be "offline".

First mention status "Recovering", second mentioned "waiting for reovering".

I want to know, if the one drive is really offline till it will be on recovering and what is the best solution to prevent an outage of the drive.

Thanks .

Markus

Hello,

Are there any screenshots or anything else available? I think I understand, but I just want to be sure.

If you have a single raid 5 volume and you replace a "failed" drive, it will rebuild each logical drive one at a time. The amount of time it takes to complete this will vary by the drive size, amount of data, rebuild priority and how busy the server is. By definition, the raid 5 will be able to keep all data available when there is only a single physical drive offline. This is true whether you have 1 logical drive or 10. If one of the logical drives is offline during this procedure, then I suspect there is something wrong in this array.

Regards

Hi Sunitha,

sorry for late reply.

The advise, that it not depents if I have 1 or 10 logical drives ist enough for resolving.

So I don´t need to seek further in this way.

Regards

Markus
