P430 1783 Slot 2 Drive Array Controller Failure!

Hi, I bought a used replacement because my original P430 failed. This replacement worked for two reboots, and now it is doing the same thing. Any ideas what is going on? How can I fix this? Please help, thanks!

The array contains 3 logical drives, one of which is the boot drive for Windows Server.

Hello,

Kindly ensure that the controller's firmware is up-to-date.

Consider reseating the controller and initiating the firmware upgrade.

If this doesn't resolve the issue, it's possible that the controller has a hardware fault and should be replaced.

Thanks for the reply. Can you please elaborate how to gain access to the latest firmware file? I am new here and I have tried looking for the right one, but I get so many results. I think I need an SPP ISO file, but there are also many verisons and it is unclear to me which one is the correct one for my server.

This is the SPP I thought was the right one: P03093_001_spp-Gen8.1-SPPGen81.4.iso

This is the P430 update I thought I needed: firmware-smartarray-112204add8-5.02-1.1.x86_64.rpm

Thanks for sending me those links. In some miraculous stroke of luck, the server booted into Windows, so I am now updating the Smart Array firmware. It's asking to reboot, so I'll let you know how it turns out. Fingers crossed...

After the reboot, the P430 reported failure, so I reseated it. Now it actually reports that the update took and boots Windows, but it appears the battery needs replacing? Can a bad battery be the thing causing all this? (I have a battery replacement on order)

Hello,

The occurrence of battery failure should not be linked to controller failure.

With the improvements and enhanced error logging capabilities in the newer firmware, any underlying issues become evident. Please get the battery replaced and check the status.

Hello,

Hot swapping a battery is not at all recommended. We need to open the server to get it replaced.

Hence you need to power off the server completely and then replace the battery.

I got the battery installed today by shutting down the server, but it is still saying "Write-Back Cache Backup Previously Failed. Caching is disabled." How can I remedy this?
